What is a fixed odds bet?
BetOnMarkets.com offers fixed odds financial bets; i.e. financial bets that pay a fixed amount (or nothing) on expiry. In other words, when you buy a fixed-odds bet from BetOnMarkets.com, you are entitled to receive a payout, which is a fixed multiple of the amount you have staked. With the BetOnMarkets.com dealing system a client expresses a view and makes a prediction. If the prediction comes true, the client will profit by a predetermined amount. Before any bet is placed, the client knows the entire possible downside as well as the exact possible profit.
However, with most bets, you are also able to sell your bet before the final settlement date to mitigate your losses or take your profits out early. This means that your risk level is clearly defined at all times.

What are the advantages of fixed odds betting?

1. Fixed odds betting constitutes a limited risk facility for gaining upside, sideways or downside exposure on a number of globally traded stock, indices and currency pairs.
2. Your risk is limited to your stake at all times yet high leverage is still possible; you risk a fixed amount of money (the purchase price of the bet), which constitutes your maximum liability.
3. Instant, Easy, Simple and Flexible. Our dealing platform offers near-instant executions with unprecedented simplicity and ease of use. You choose the closing time and date for all bet which can be as little as 10 minutes (as for the Intraday Doubles) from the current time and as long as 6 months. You choose your potential winnings per bet and you never have to risk more than you want to (unless purchasing "Stop Bets" or "Spreads"). You don't need to monitor the bets or regularly follow the markets; you can let your bets expire on the settlement date without having to determine when to cut a losing position or to take profits.
4. Versatility. You can adapt or adjust your positions according to any situation that arises. This means you can do everything from protecting a position from a decline to outright betting on the movement of the stock markets.
5. You can bet on the markets for as little as 5 and as much as 50,000 GBP.

How are prices calculated?
BetOnMarkets.com uses a variety of methods to compute bet prices. Some bets are priced using complex mathematical algorithms, based on option pricing technology whilst others are priced using simpler methods. Our advanced pricing models take into account market implied volatility, the current market quote of the underlying market, expiry date, present market conditions and other contributing factors. Furthermore, prices are weighted according to demand; bets currently in high demand will be priced at a premium to bets in low demand.
[Go to top]

How does BetOnMarkets.com make money?
A small sales commission is built into the price of all bets. This commission is not constant and depends on the market conditions. To find out the exact commission amount charged on a bet, log into your account and select "Advanced Mode" (situated under the Home menu). Then price a bet as per normal, and click on the link "Further Info." to see the exact amount of commission charged on that specific bet. When you buy a bet, the amount deducted from your account is simply the price of the bet; there are no additional fees.

How can BetOnMarkets.com offer smaller transaction sizes?
Smaller transaction sizes pose several challenges to traditional brokerage firms. The primary issue that have prevented firms from offering smaller trading is mainly the high labour costs. Executing smaller size transactions for a dealing desk takes the same amount of effort as executing larger transactions. To offer smaller trading sizes, most firms would have to hire more dealers, which would make the cost prohibitive. BetOnMarkets.com has an automated system. All bets are executed without human intervention (just like a demo account).
[Go to top]

Bet sensibly.
Bet sensibly and familiarize yourself with the risks of fixed odds financial betting. The maximum loss is always limited to the premium (i.e. stake) but losses are still possible. Always remember to play only with money THAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.
[Go to top]

How can I learn how to play?
We suggest that our clients create a virtual money account to test our dealing system risk-free before creating a real money account and committing themselves to betting with real money. The BetOnMarkets.com system allows you to price bets, track your performance (statement), and show your profit and losses (portfolio section) as if you were using real money. To open a virtual money account just click on the link "Open a Virtual Account" situated on the top right hand side of the main page. Your Virtual Money Account enables you to access every element of the BetOnMarkets.com platform. It's as real as it gets, except that you are using virtual money and thus cannot make or lose any actual real money.
Please note that virtual money accounts are credited with 10,000 GBP by default. If you try to buy a bet and the system returns an error message that you don't have enough funds in your account to cover the bet, then it is probable that you have tried buying a bet in GBP or EUR when you have USD in your account. If you wish to bet in GBP or EUR, then you can use the "Convert between your currency segment accounts" function to convert your USD balance to GBP or EUR as required.
[Go to top]

Can I convert my "Virtual Money" account to a "Real Money" account?
No, you have to create a new "Real Money" account to bet with real money.
[Go to top]

Can I have two or more BetOnMarkets.com accounts?
Each user is limited to only one Real Money account. This helps us minimise the risk of fraud. You can, however, have a Real Money account and a Virtual Money account simultaneously. Multiple real money accounts will be disabled immediately unless prior permission has been acknowledged from our Customer Support team.
[Go to top]

What currencies can I bet with and what is the minimum/maximum stake?
You can manage your account in Pounds Sterling. All deposits, transactions and withdrawals are conducted. The minimum stake is 1 unit with no maximum stake. The minimum payout is however 10 units while the maximum payout can be up to 10,000 units (i.e. I wish to win GBP10,000). A payout represents your total potential returns on a bet (i.e. purchase price of a bet plus potential winnings) and your stake (i.e. the purchase price of a bet) is always included in your payout. In other words, you always have to deduct the purchase price of a bet from the total payout when calculating your net winnings.

How do I claim my winnings if I win my bet?
To view the status of your bets you must log into your account, select "Portfolio" (under the "User Options"), choose the appropriate "Currency" from the top right hand side drop-down menu, and click on the "Go" button adjacent to it. In this section you will be able to view all your outstanding positions. If you have won a bet, the "Sale Price" column will display your full payout. To claim your winnings, click on the green icon "Go" situated next to the description of the bet. Note: If you have won a bet, you may need to wait until the following day (GMT time) for 100% of the payout amount to appear in the "Sale Price" column.
[Go to top]

How are my winnings computed?
The payout of a bet includes the cost of the bet; therefore, your net winnings are calculated as follows: Winnings = (Total Payout of a specific bet) - (Cost of bet).
[Go to top]

Where are my winnings paid to?
Upon clicking on the green icon "Go" in the "Portfolio" section, any winnings will be credited directly to your BetOnMarkets.com account. You may use these funds to pay for future bets. If you wish to withdraw funds from your account, you need to access the "Cashier" section situated on the horizontal menu at the top of the page. Click on "Withdraw" and follow the on-screen instructions.
[Go to top]

Where can I see a summary of my transactions?
All your account history is stored in your account statement, which can be accessed by logging into your account and selecting "Statement" from the left hand side menu of the website. From your statement you can easily review all financial transactions made and keep track of all bets placed. Every record has an individual reference number, to be used in the event of any queries. To view your currency segment (GBP) or change the number of days to display you can use the drop-down menus at the top of the page. For example, to view your GBP transaction history for the last 60 days, select "GBP" as the currency to display from the top middle "Currency" drop-down menu, choose "60" from the "Number of days to display" drop-down menu and click on "Go" on the right hand side.
[Go to top]

What does the "portfolio" consist of?
Your portfolio shows all your outstanding positions. Your unexpired bets will be displayed in this section. To access your "portfolio," log into your account and click on "portfolio" situated on the left hand side menu of the website. One should always check the portfolio section after buying a bet because this is the surest way of certifying that a bet has been accepted by our system.
Upon purchasing a bet, its resale price will be displayed in the "Sale" column. The resale price will fluctuate continuously depending on the movement of the underlying markets. The difference that one can view between the purchase price and the resale price, immediately after purchasing a bet, represents the company's resale commission. You may either sell your bet before its expiry at the resale price indicated or you may keep the bet until its expiry date when it will be settled without any resale commission.
In the "portfolio" section, you may therefore see the price at which a bet was originally bought and its current price (i.e. resale price). When a bet expires, the "Sale Price" column will display a zero value when you lose the bet. If you win the bet, it will show the full payout amount you're owed. Your winnings are not automatically credited to your account and therefore need to be claimed manually from your "portfolio". To claim your payout, click on the green "go" icon displayed to the right of the relevant bet.
Your "portfolio" features also the following: your current account cash balance, value of your outstanding positions and the total value of your account.
The value of your outstanding positions is the total sum of the resale price of all individual bets at any point in time.
The total value of your account is made up of your cash balance plus the value of your outstanding positions.
Example: Let us say that you have purchased two bets; one for GBP22.6 to win GBP100 and another for GBP61.4 to win GBP100 - if you were to check your portfolio section at this time, you will be able to see that the current resale prices of these two bets are GBP27.5 and GBP54 respectively; thus the value of your outstanding positions in this case is GBP81.5 (GBP27.5 + GBP54) Please note that:

1. Intraday bets (bets with a lifetime of one trading day or less) cannot be sold back to the system due to their very short lifetime.
2. Selling a bet before expiry is an option provided by the company for extra value but should not be considered as a right. The ability to sell bets may be suspended from time to time due to market conditions or for technical reasons. Our strict obligation is to settle your bets on expiry as either a win or lose.
3. You can close positions before expiry only when the underlying market is open.
4. Bets may only be resold back to the system once 10 minutes have elapsed since the time of purchase
5. Net winnings = (Total Payout of a specific bet) - (Cost of the bet).

How are my winnings computed?
The payout of a bet includes the cost of the bet; therefore, your net winnings are calculated as follows: Winnings = (Total Payout of a specific bet) - (Cost of bet).
